Conditions Not Treated at Lomibao Rheumatology

Lomibao Rheumatology and Wellness Care in Rowlett, TX specializes in autoimmune, inflammatory, and rheumatic conditions. Dr. Lomibao is a board-certified, fellowship-trained rheumatologist, and her practice focuses exclusively on the diseases that fall within this specialty.

To help you get to the right doctor as quickly as possible, here are the conditions we do not treat at our practice and where you may want to seek care instead.

Conditions We Don't Treat at Lomibao Rheumatology

Fibromyalgia as a Primary Diagnosis

If fibromyalgia is your only diagnosis without an underlying autoimmune condition, this is typically managed by your primary care physician, a pain management specialist, or a neurologist. If Dr. Lomibao suspects fibromyalgia coexists with a rheumatic disease, she'll address both.

Chronic Pain Without Inflammatory or Autoimmune Cause

Generalized body pain, chronic fatigue, or widespread aching without evidence of an autoimmune or inflammatory condition is best evaluated by a primary care provider or pain management specialist.

Orthopedic and Surgical Conditions

Torn ligaments, meniscus tears, rotator cuff injuries, herniated discs, and conditions requiring surgical intervention are treated by orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Lomibao can refer you to trusted orthopedic colleagues in the DFW area.

Primary Spine and Back Pain

Mechanical back pain, sciatica, and spinal stenosis are typically managed by orthopedists, neurosurgeons, or pain management specialists. However, if inflammatory back pain (like ankylosing spondylitis) is suspected, that does fall within rheumatology.

Isolated Tendonitis or Sports Injuries

Tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, or repetitive strain injuries unrelated to a systemic inflammatory condition are managed by sports medicine physicians, orthopedists, or physical therapists.

Neurological Conditions

Multiple sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, and other neurological disorders are treated by neurologists, even when symptoms overlap with autoimmune disease.

Chronic Lyme Disease

Post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome falls outside the scope of rheumatology. If you believe Lyme disease is contributing to joint symptoms, an infectious disease specialist is the appropriate provider.

Workers' Compensation and Disability Evaluations

Lomibao Rheumatology does not accept workers' compensation cases, disability evaluations, or disability-related documentation of any kind.

Medicaid

We are not contracted with Medicaid plans at this time.
